Our division is responsible for designing, calculating, and simulating the chassis of the car. Our target is to make a strong and lightweight chassis. Frame division plays an important role to engineer the chassis so that it complies with all regulations and criterias. Aside from that, Frame division is also responsible for designing the drivers’ seat and instrument placements in the car which takes into consideration the ergonomics and comfort of the driver.
2024. What’s New?
2024 is an important year for frame division to keep on innovating, one of which is by optimising the frame from the previous car. Next year, our target is to compact up the dimensions of the car, increase its torsional rigidity and reduce the frame’s weight. Our goal is to reduce the weight by 4kg, from 40kg to 36kg. The structure and material of the frame is an integral part to making sure our frame is optimised.
Movement for Improvement
By using STKM 11A steel as the raw material, the Frame division has undertaken various optimizations by employing smaller diameter pipes and thinner pipe thickness. The question at hand is: how does this impact the durability and strength of the frame when numerous dimension reductions are made?
Drawing from our experience in the previous year, the efforts invested in optimizing critical points, such as the suspension pickup point, can assist in achieving optimization, even when utilizing smaller pipes.
Why Do All This?
In FSAE competition, the vehicle’s weight stands as a pivotal and plays a significant role. This is precisely why the Frame Division has a primary motivationto craft a chassis that is both stronger and lighter, aiming to enhance the vehicle’s Power-to-Weight Ratio.
Additionally, the rigidity of the frame plays a significant role in influencing the vehicle’s steering performance.

The most satisfying moment in my work was when I managed my first welding independently.
