The engine division is responsible for all aspects of the powertrain system, both the internal engine (systems that support engine work such as the intake system, exhaust system, fuel system, etc.) and also the UIRT car drive system, namely the engine and drivetrain. The engine division is also responsible if the car suddenly stops and won’t start. The engine division also often works together with the electrical division.
The engine division designs, manufactures, and maintains machine systems too. They optimize engine power within Formula Student regulations through research and formulated strategies.
Engine Improvements?
The engine division always tries to be up-to-date by periodically reviewing the rulebook to ensure that any rule changes are not missed. Apart from that, the engine division conducts research regarding upgrades that can be applied. This effort was carried out by the engine division so that it could achieve what the FSAE stewards wanted and be able to implement it.
The engine division will improve the geometry of the new exhaust and intake system. Engine fixed and optimized. Apart from that, the engine division will also upgrade cooling.
Engine Hopes
If everything can be implemented as projected, the engine division will increase horsepower by making several efforts in the intake and exhaust sections. The engine we have will also be rejuvenated which of course will be + 20 HP, we have designed the intake and exhaust system in such a way as to increase the efficiency of the engine’s power output (+ 10 HP). Of course, our division will also correct the mistakes made in previous years.
Akmal Zaki (Head of Engine UIRT 2024)
When talking about cars especially about its performance, on of the most asked question is ” What engine do you use? “. As a part of the engine and powertrain division it is our everyday live around every related things of the system.
Within the engine and powertrain division, our primary responsibility is to craft well-performing and reliable engine systems that propel our team to success on the track. From dreaming up the designs to getting dirty with bolts, nuts and oils, We do it all. For us our system is more than just a system it is the heart and soul for our car.
As a part of Engine and Powertrain Division there are tons of things to learn. From planning, calculating and designing parts which being an implementation of being an engineering student to doing the dirty work as a mechanic. In short, My role on the team acted as a real act of my study as an engineering student and also as my playground.
Atha Zaidane (Staff of Engine UIRT 2024)
The engine division is the division in the UIRT team that is responsible for the drive or powertrain of our car. Starting from the engine, intake system, exhaust system, cooling system, to differential. Our work starts from designing, manufacturing, maintaining, to assembling parts related to what we are responsible for.
I chose the engine division because I like the world of machinery, especially car or motorcycle engines. Also, I like motorsport. Both of these things are obtained by UIRT, especially in the engine division. I also previously had activities in a workshop that I enjoyed, then had a break because of preparations for college and the beginning of college. When I entered UIRT, it was like returning to my old enjoyment again. In UIRT I also learned that the knowledge of the world of machinery is very wide, which encouraged me to look for more.
